- Transparency. We are open about where our data comes from, how review highlights are created, and what our editorial limitations are. If something on our platform is generated, aggregated, or estimated, we say so.
How Store Information Is Organized

- Contact information is validated for format and, where feasible, checked for active status.
- Locations are plotted on a map and reviewed for geographic accuracy.
For high-traffic locations such as major shopping malls and flagship stores, we perform more frequent verification cycles. Smaller or independent retailers may be reviewed less frequently, though we process user-submitted corrections on an ongoing basis.
How Review Highlights Work
Many store pages on GotoRetailo include a "Review Highlights" section that provides a structured overview of what visitors have said about a location. These highlights are not written by our editorial team, nor are they copied verbatim from any single review source. Here is how they are created:
The Process
- Collection. Publicly available visitor reviews are gathered from established review platforms and consumer feedback sites.
- Analysis. Reviews are analyzed to identify recurring themes, frequently mentioned positives and negatives, and common observations about specific aspects of the shopping experience (e.g., product variety, staff behavior, store cleanliness, parking).
- Structuring. These themes are organized into concise, readable highlight summaries that reflect the overall sentiment of the reviewed feedback.
- Presentation. Highlights are displayed alongside aggregate star ratings and review counts to give shoppers a quick yet informed understanding of a location's reputation.
What Review Highlights Include
- Common praise and complaints mentioned across multiple reviews
- Observations about specific store attributes (selection, pricing, ambiance, service)
- Aggregate ratings calculated from available public review data
What Review Highlights Do Not Include
- Verbatim quotes from individual reviewers (unless explicitly attributed)
- Reviews that could not be verified as coming from actual visitors
- Content that violates our standards (hate speech, personal attacks, or clearly fraudulent reviews)
- Paid testimonials or manufacturer-provided endorsements
Accuracy and Updates
Retail is a dynamic industry. Stores change hours, relocate, renovate, or close. To maintain the usefulness of our platform, we follow a structured update schedule:
- Continuous updates: User-submitted corrections and flagged errors are reviewed and processed on an ongoing basis, typically within 48 hours of submission.
- Monthly review cycles: High-traffic store pages and popular locations are checked monthly against their primary data sources for any changes to hours, contact details, or status.
- Quarterly audits: Our data team conducts broader audits each quarter to identify stale listings, verify category accuracy, and update seasonal information (e.g., holiday hours, temporary closures).
- Stale data handling: If a store's information has not been verified within 90 days, a note may be displayed on the page indicating that details should be confirmed directly with the retailer. Listings that cannot be re-verified after multiple cycles may be deprioritized or removed.
Despite our best efforts, some information may occasionally be outdated between update cycles. We always recommend confirming critical details directly with the retailer before making a trip.
Content Standards
All content published on GotoRetailo -- whether written by our team, structured from public data, or submitted by users -- must meet our editorial standards.
What We Include
- Factual store and business information sourced from reliable references
- Structured review highlights based on verified public visitor feedback
- Practical details that help shoppers plan visits (hours, location, amenities, accessibility notes)
- Category and location classifications that reflect a store's actual offerings and geography
What We Exclude
- Unverified promotional claims or marketing copy provided by retailers
- Content that could be misleading about a store's size, inventory, or pricing
- Reviews or summaries that contain personal attacks, discriminatory language, or clearly fabricated claims
- Paid content that is not clearly labeled as sponsored or advertising
Editorial Independence
Our editorial content is produced independently from our business operations. Retailers who list with GotoRetailo or use our business tools do not receive editorial advantages. Sponsored content, if and when it exists, is always clearly labeled and separated from editorial content.
Corrections and Feedback
We believe that a commitment to accuracy includes a commitment to fixing mistakes. If you find information on GotoRetailo that is incorrect, outdated, or misleading, we want to hear from you.
